Tuesday we got back into our habit of shopping locally. Here's what we got where...
First we had breakfast at our favorite coffee shop, Southern Perks. I highly recommend a Chocolate Covered Cherry Latte. Mmmmmm. We popped in next door to that at Nina's to buy me a bee bar (check it out- this thing is awesome, use it like a bar of soap, and it moisturizes your hands like you wouldn't bee- lieve.)
Then, off we went to Falls Mill where I got whole wheat flour, yellow cornmeal (this makes the best cornbread ever!) pancake mix, and some local jams- Damson Plum, and Apple Butter.
Next Stop- Swiss Pantry. This is where I buy my yeast in bulk. I got TN honey, some yogurt cheese, rolled oats, some dried fruit, some wide egg noodles for tonight's stroganoff, and some Triple Berry Jam (one of my favorites.)
I cannot wait for the farmer's market to re-open. In the meantime, I'm reading seed catalogs cover to cover(my favorite right now is Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds), and making my selections for what I hope will be a bigger, better garden this year. I also hope to get some fruit trees planted, along with some grape vines and berry bushes, so in a few years we'll get more than peaches from our own property. (not that I'm complaining about those peaches... yum!)
Well, that's about it for my local eats update... thanks for reading! Peace~
